Over the last few weeks, I continued experimenting with the drawn background using shapes of different scales and then moving into color tests. Initially I focused on colors to work with the colors of W_P #2. I found that to be limiting (in part because I am not thrilled with that piece and its construction and material issues).  I plan to build  W_P #3 with more neutral colors and fewer variations in texture ad material, so I started playing with color on the background as a stand alone. It  may not compliment the current piece, or maybe it will. I can't say yet. Blues and black and grays Decided to cut out large shapes to experiment with the dimension it might add. It also mad it quicker to try out colors for large shapes by laying over sheets of color. bronze blue brown gold yellow (which I particularly liked so I went on to paint that one). Tara,   It seemed like it may be helpful for you and a good exercise for me to put together a report on what I have been up to since we talked. So here you go. First, our meeting served as just the kick in the pants I needed and I jumped right in. So thanks. (Note: Text in purple represent action items.)   ·      I finished, at least for now, the W_P sculptural piece that I was working on. Moving forward with this project, I will be limiting materials, focusing on the papers and films that work best and tightening up the files I use to cut the shapes in order to make them a little more precise. This will address some of my frustrations working on this. In the meantime, I am using this piece to experiment with integrating backgrounds (see next bullet).
